Connected to the congregation through her beautiful voice, Cantorial Soloist Ellie Glantz brings an authentic and potent presence to liturgy and music.
With experience in congregations in Canada and the United States, Ellie has supported congregants in their individual and collective worship needs through personal initiatives, both musical and non-musical. In leading worship, she marries her professional abilities with her warm personal presence.
Ellie has studied extensively in Cincinnati, at the campus of Hebrew Union College in courses specific to the High Holidays, Sabbath and the major and minor festivals. Under the mentorship and direction of faculty members: Cantor Lanie Katzew, Cantor Dan Singer and Canadian composer Ben Steinberg, just to name a few, she has endeavored to hone her interpretation and understanding of Judaism’s most spectacular liturgical music.
As the Cantorial Soloist, Ellie leads Shabbat Services, High Holidays and Chagim. She officiates at life-cycle events such as: B’nai Mitzvot, weddings, funerals and unveilings as well as her signature Healing Service. She has added experience and expertise in the challenges of a small congregation. Service planning is creative and meaningful in co-operation with synagogue leadership. Ellie enjoys the added benefit of working together with volunteer choirs and brings her extensive musical experience to elevate and inspire.
Ellie enjoys new and diverse challenges and is open and available to travel, providing locum opportunities for congregations with short or long-term need. Also, she offers workshops in: Optimizing your Choir’s Potential; Music as Prayer; Introducing New Music to your Congregation
As a vocal coach and teacher she tutors B’nai Mitzvah students in how to optimize their potential for their “Special Day”. Through development of their vocal technique to help with their chanting, and assistance with the execution of their spoken presentations, Ellie is a wonderful addition to the B’nai Mitzvah Education Team, rounding out the learning experience and encouraging the child’s confidence.
